Don't ask me why this is "in a bag..." I think the recipe used to be put in the microwave or something to steam... But I have no idea how to do that. SO! This is what you get! This is a really easy casserole-noodleish dish.
1 lb ground beef
2 cans stewed tomatoes (don't get Italian stewed)
1/4 cup dried minced onion
1 tsp salt
1 tsp chili powder
1/4 to 1/2 pepper
1/4 tsp sugar
1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni
In a very large skillet, brown beef and drain. Add tomatoes and seasoning; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in macaroni; cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Uncover; simmer until macaroni is tender and sauce is thickened.

It was called Dinner in a Bag because a time-conscious mom put all the pre-measured dry ingredients and cans of tomatoes in a bag in her pantry so that all she had to do was brown the meat, grab the bag out of the pantry and dump in the contents - easy peasy! In my opinion, it is the chili powder that makes it special.
I agree about the chilli powder - this was good and fast.
1/4 to 1/2 pepper... ? tsp Tbsp or is it actually meaning peppers in which case, what size?
